Here we have a super example of the early 20th century smart top coat, sometimes referred to as a ' Chesterfield' . This exact one may have been made in the 1930's but the Army and Navy stores always used patterns from previous decades and this is no exception. The coat features the skirted drape type shape synonymous with the Edwardian era with a relatively slim chest, softer shoulder, higher armpit and pocketless chest. The arms are broad and curved as was typical and the button row fly fronted. The lapels are relatively broad and fasten properly if required. Whats also nice is that its a 42 reg off the peg which is unusual in a pattern like this.
To the untrained eye this may look like any single breasted coat but if you are after a pattern like this then this is a great example.
