Iraqi made 1920's 1930's mess style short jacket size 36 38

For sale here we have a very interesting item. The mess shape jacket is known best as mess kit in the military but has also been used for bellhops, waiters and general staff. However... it was also a fashion in the 1930's for a while amongst style minded people, especially in warmer climates which suited the shorter cotton jacket. This may be one of those, its certainly nice enough in terms of manufacture and detail. The generous peak lapel and mother of pearl buttons also suggest a civilian usage.The cloth is a very smart gros grain too, possibly a silk mix. Additionally... if you google ' civilian 1930's mess jacket' they look very similar to this, often worn in the evening.   At that time there were Brits stationed out in Iraq and so could well be made for that market.

Condition - Excellent, there is just one spot really. I'm sure a wash would brighten it up too but doesn't need it .
