Vintage 1930's bespoke midnight blue evening tailcoat size 40 long
For sale here is one of the best finds we've ever had. This is the evening tailcoat belonging to Air Marshall Portal, or proper name Marshal of the Royal Air Force Charles Frederick Algernon Portal, 1st Viscount Portal of Hungerford, KG, GCB, OM, DSO & Bar, MC, DL... the equivalent position in Britain to Herman Goerring, the very much more infamous German Air Marshall. A real historical figure, seen in image 1 and 2 with Churchill et al.
The tailcoat itself is Hawkes, made in '39 from a midnight blue fine herringbone barathea with silk lining, working cuff and hand sewing.
