For sale here is a very early and also extremely hard to find three piece white tie suit with original black waistcoat and flat fronted trousers. The condition is absolutely superb with just a couple of very minor imperfections. The trousers have external brace buttons, an exaggerated fishtail back, cinch back and a tapered leg. The waistcoat is backed and lined in a lovely satin cotton with elegant cut typical of the time. The coat has a broad lapel but with reserved peaks as was typical, long collar, covered buttons and an elegant cut with relatively broad shoulders for the time. Its hard to put a date on this as I'm not a clothing historian and the item is French which complicates matters for us. The style of trousers certainly put this pre 1930 and black waistcoats were petty much out of fashion after WW1 as far as I understand. WE have never had a three piece this old before and never had a tailcoat with its original black waistcoat, and without boasting we've seen a LOT in over 15 years of trading in vintage formal wear.

Excellent, really amazing for an item this old. There are a couple of almost holes as photographed but they are insignificant. There is an isue however... the silk on the lapels has biodegraded and literally rubs off, hence the lines on it. You can wear it as is of course but your shirt will be left with black silk marks so these should be replaced if your intention is to wear it.
