1933 bespoke civil levee / Diplomatic tailcoat size 40 / 1
For sale here we have a beautiful example of a civil levee dress tailcoat with made in 1933 by Wilkinson & Son for Sir Frederick Philips.
Frederick Phillips (18 December 1884 – 14 August 1943) was a British civil servant.
He was Chairman of the Financial Committee of the League of Nations[1] and the head of the British Treasury Mission in Washington D.C. during the Second World War.[2]
The tailcoat is of course hand sewn, featuring beautiful gold braid detailing, silk quilted lining and all original buttons / details.
The tailcoat also came with a Henry Poole Bicorn ( how many of those are there in the world ) . It's a small size and has a crack on the reverse.

Fit - 41 reg, slightly long although of course you can move the cuffs to make it longer at a decent tailor. An unusual size for any item of clothing made for a man born pre 1900.
Condition - Excellent, Just a little damage to the silk sleeve lining. Otherwise it's amazing really.
